Headington (Speakability) Group

Our group comprises 6 people as follows. Joe Fraser-Chair/Treasurer, Chrissie Wright-Secretary, Phil Nossek, Alan(Eddie) Edridge, Roger Wickstead, Alan Gross. The wives/partners/carers who give tremendous support when necessary are affiliated also members. All live in Oxford or the surrounding areas.

We meet, formally, once a month at each person's home address, in turn. We have tried various activities & are experimenting with others. The degree of Aphasia we suffer ranges from "mild" to "severe", with the norm of "moderate" being only 1 or 2 sufferers. One of our members suffered an Anurism, another is progressive-aphasic. The remainder have their aphasia as a result of a Stroke

Some of our activities, or past-times, have been: Quizzes, free speech, debates on common-affairs, sailing, visits to theatre, cinema, Meals out, Museums, & one of our members tried some singing recently with a view to the group trying it as a therapy-session. Our latest Xmas meal was at a Lebanese restaurant in Oxford.
