Let me introduce myself.....I am a male, 44 years old & I have had Aphasia for 8 years.
Basically I was a traveller first for 3 years then I went into the computer industry for 5 years....I then took a break for 4 years, then I joined a travel company for 7 years & I left the travel company & travelled 6 month before deciding to buy a flat....It was very special, the flat I mean, & it is down at the front in south coast!
My girlfriend was up in St Albans & we used to take it in turns who would go & see them!!
One day in St Albans I felt very funny, not ha ha, but really something was wrong with me. It was the 20 th June 1998.
To cut a long story short, I woke up in hospital & I could not walk, talk....basically a sorry human being! It was the hospital at Hemel Hemstead.
I was there for 17 days....the worst nightmare!!
Then I was put into rehab place, Garston Manor, Watford, if anybody knows this, & I had a similar nightmare there too!!
After 10 weeks I got out, & Debbie & me got a tiny flat near St Albans.
I went to the rehab centre for roughly 1 year 6 months. How I keep going, I do not know!!
Then Debbie & I spilt up....we had being getting on each other's nerves & after 3 years 9 months we went our separate ways! Debbie was a great help to me, I think we did the right thing!
And now I am chairperson of the local Speakability group, I am Holiday advisor for Dialability & do the books for Oxsrad, a local sport club. I am doing a web-site!
I travel; nobody stop me doing that!!!!
Oh well, that my story, simpified but the whole truth...... |
